Storytelling: Legends & Ghosts in Hawaiʻi
Join storyteller Lopaka Kapanui as he explores the question, “Are Hawaiʻi’s gods and ghosts a thing of the past, or do they still exist today?” The answers might just surprise you! A native Hawaiian, Lopaka Kapanui, has been described by many as one of Hawaiʻi’s foremost storytellers. Following in the footsteps of his close friend and mentor Glen Grant, he shares more than just Hawaiian ghost stories: he shares his knowledge of Hawaiʻi, masterfully weaving the tales of Old Hawaiʻi with passion and mystery. He conducts tours throughout Oʻahu, sharing the normal and paranormal to all who wish to know.

Chinese Kite Festival
When was the last time your flew a kite? Here’s your chance! This FREE festival invites you learn about the history of kites in China, see an exhibit of handmade kites and a chance to craft your own. Test your skills at Kite flyers Association from 10am – 2pm on Saturday at Kea’a North Beach.
Learn more about it from the Lahaina Restoration Foundation a foundation that exists to restore, preserve and protect the physical, historical and cultural legacies of Lahaina, and honor the era of the Hawaiian Monarchy.

Art of Kapa
Learn about the Art of Kapa Hui Noeau
Kapa (cloth) was once woven into the daily life of ancient Hawaiians. This cloth was used in ceremonies and retains the mana (life force) of the plant it is made from. This hands on class will share the history of kapa, with tools and techniques. Walk out with a shark tooth knife and ohe kapala (carved bamboo stamps) to take home.

Save the Date for the 22nd Annual Haiku Ho’olaule’a and Flower Festival!
The Maui community and visitors alike are invited to spend the day, bring their families and lawn chairs and join the Haiku community to enjoy fabulous live entertainment, culinary delights from local restaurants and the Haiku Ohana, the famous Haiku School bake sale, one of the largest silent auctions on Maui, floral design contest, a Haiku historical display, plenty of activities for Keiki and much more.
