Popular Maui Drives
One of our favorite leisurely coastal Maui drives includes driving down through Wailea and Makena to La Perouse. Something about going from lush foliage to desert lava fields puts a smile on my face. Another great drive can be found when exploring Upcountry. We love driving through Makawao, Pukalani, and Kula. Remember to drive with respect and caution. And please stay away from Lahaina until authorities have opened it up again.
Best Maui Sun-Bathing Beaches
There are just too many great beaches on Maui for you to visit in one trip, but we do have some suggestions. We choose Ali’i Resort Rentals that are either directly on or next to amazing beaches. Ulua, Mokapu, Kamaole Beaches, Polo, and Sugar Beach are just a few. If you’re eventually staying on the west side at the Hale Mahina, then you’ve got your own beach right there!

Most of the big resorts have spas, but we’re partial to Andaz, Spa Montage, and the Grand Wailea Spa. Here you can do everything from multiple baths and showers to massage, cold plunge, sauna, and more.
Iao Valley Exploration
Walking along the paths and permitted trails at the Iao Valley State Park will bring you closer to zen than most trips around Maui. Don’t miss the soothing sounds of Iao Stream, taking in the towering cliffs, and hearing the many birds that call this region home.

On the south side, you’ve got Ferraro’s, and the many luaus in Wailea.
