WHAT IS XTERRA? This is a world premier off-road triathlon that combines a 1.5-kilometer (1-mile) ocean swim at DT Fleming’s Beach, a 30.4-kilometer (18.89-miles) rugged mountain bike ride and a 9.5-kilometer (5.9 miles) trail run described here in Maui as a tropical roller-coaster through old pineapple fields and forests.
This exciting event is not to be missed. Last year more than 700 athletes representing more than 30 countries and 42 states entered the 2012 Xterra World Championship off-road triathlon.
