It was a wonderful location and the condo was comfortable. Ali'i Resort personnel are fabulous!
Best snorkeling and sunsets- wow !!!
Royal Mauian #606 was our home for 6 nights during our first trip to Maui in June/July 2013.It was just as advertised in Vrbo.com and we had a great time there. It was a well run high rise that had a prime location for beach front access and views of the sunsets from our patio.Having snorkeled all over the Caribbean we were blown away by the water right in front of our condo. It was so clear and full of coral and fish. We even swam with some turtles. It was centrally located on the island, so we did some driving, but that was not really a problem. The condo was clean and well furnished.Nice bedrooms and bathrooms. Nice kitchen and appliances.Big screen TV. A/C and fans.
What an incredible spot this is. The facilities are beautiful, clean, and there is a spectacular view from this unit. Totally private. I would have preferred no carpet. The crew at ali's resorts are helpful and available at any time. The unit was well-equipped with any amenity you would need. Stock up on groceries because once you get there, you won't want to leave. You'll be cooking up on the rooftop every night. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Great stay with a few flaws (depending on your circumstances)
Pros:
A/C (not super powerful, but enough). Nice variable-speed fans in every room. Comfortable king bed. Nicely stocked kitchen. Great views. Master (oceanfront) room very quiet. Comfortable couch. A few random, relatively low-quality but functional things in the beach cabinet on lanai: chairs, an umbrella, some old snorkels. In-unit washer-dryer worked great.
Cons:
Dirty carpet. No tub (con for us, maybe not for you). A/C unit is old and noisy on the deck; you have to turn it off when you're outside. Also rusty, which was uncomfortable/seemed dangerous/was a lot of work with the baby constantly trying to lick it. Second (inland) room very loud and not soundproof at all (our 4 year old kid slept fine, but I would have been awake all night). Desk was actually in the master bedroom, so not easy to access lanai from master. Glass dining table/large chairs difficult to use with kids. Outdoor furniture squishy/difficult with kids/felt damp and a bit "moldy" without being smelly (we had our towels on them to stay comfortable, by the end). Glass coffee/end tables difficult to have with kids. The wifi worked great with computers/phone. My kindle, however, wouldn't connect because it wouldn't take the password (???).
Other: you can fit a pack-n-play (standard Graco size) in the master, and close the sliding door to the main, and then veeeeeeeeeeery carefully squeeze it into the main room and get into the master. If you have an inquisitive child, renting a pressure gate to "seal off" the kitchen is a good idea. There is a vacuum you can use, which helps, but really - gross carpets. Nice for the padding, but yuck.
Ali'i resorts provides dish soap, dishwasher soap, and 6 laundry soap "balls", plus bath soap, shampoo, lotion - excellent. Enough for our 8 night stay (but we didn't stay that clean...). They provide bath towels and beach towels. The bedding is clean, nice. There is salt and pepper, and there was some oil. There was aluminum foil. Check the supplies before you buy these basics, if you can. There is an expensive/good grocery store right across the street. There is a cheaper/decent store down the street a bit (Foodland?). Cafe O-Lei (walk) is yummy. Coconuts (drive) is yummy. Sansei(sp? drive) sushi is yummy, but you need to really time it right to eat there. Totally crazy busy.
Beautifully decorated and very high quality
This unit was outfitted with top of the line items. We rented three units on the 6th floor for our stay and this was by far the best. It was the only unit with air conditioning, which was very nice on muggy nights. The ceiling fans were top of the line, as well as the beds and bedding. Even the patio furniture was very high quality, much nicer than the other units. It is a beautiful unit and I will definitely stay here again!
Cozy little place - great location and beautiful view!
We loved this property - great location between two beautiful beaches (Kamaole 1 & 2). Beaches are perfect for swimming and sunning with beautiful clean sand and shallow entry. Many beach activities right there - snorkelling in front of the property (we saw huge sea turtles every day); stand up paddling - you can rent a sup board across the street and walk it across; and surfing at nearby Cove Park (just south).
The unit was very comfortable with nice furnishings/art but I have to admit it felt a bit tight for our family of 4 (I couldn't help but think that a different furniture layout might have helped) - not a big deal as we were rarely in the unit and when we were we were on the beautiful lanai. We also spent many very pleasant evenings cooking and dining on the rooftop patio which is one of the huge bonuses of this property. There were 4 Bbq's and many tables - it was never too busy and always a beautiful spot to enjoy dinner, socialize and watch the sunset.
Across the street there are shopping plazas with great food choices (incl. ice cream and shave ice), rental shops for gear (we like auntie's Snorkel), and clothing/souvenirs. Hawaiian Moon Natural Foods was handy (a bit pricey) for produce or breads and had a great take-out salad bar.
The unit has everything you need - fully stocked kitchen (sharp knives, bakeware, blender, rice cooker, tons of dishes and utensils) and even some things for the beach (4 small beach chairs, 1 boogie board, small snorkels, cooler). Beach chairs were handy but if you are planning to spend a lot of time at the beach it might be worth picking up a more comfortable chair (Costco had Tommy Bahama folding chair for $33). Only thing missing was an iPod docking station (there was a CD Player & Radio). Beds very comfortable. The unit has a/C (some don't) which was a very nice option.
Very happy with staff and service of ali'i Resorts -wouldn't hesitate to book through them again! Overall great place with good value!
We spent two weeks at the Royal Mauian unit 606. The unit is well situated facing the ocean with a lovely view of the beach. Four were in our party and we found everything we needed in the oondo. It was clean and got cleaned by the staff after a week which was nice. There are shops nearby and it's easy to drive around. You can snorkel in front of the building and the turtles come a couple times a day which is fun to watch. My only complaint would be that the air conditioner was not strong enough to keep the furthest bedroom cool which made sleeping difficult in that room. Also would have been nice if someone could have turned the air conditioner on before we arrived - it was an oven when we got there. Overall we had a wonderful time and would stay there again especially if something was done about the air conditioner.
We ave been coming to Kihei and Royal Mauian for 25 years but this was out first tie using ali'i and staying in 606. The unit is very comfortable, and the staff at ali'i could not have been more accommodating.
Watching Turtles from the lanai, how can you go wrong!
We had a great time at #606 its lanai is the best feature and we spent almost every evening watching the sun set at happy hour. The roof top BBQ area is great and convenient. The location is very central with everything you may need within walking distance. The unit is well stocked with everything you need, even beach chairs and a boogie board. Sandwiched between Kamole 1 and 2 so you have you choice of which beach to go to depending on the wind. Everything went smoothly with our check in and check out as well as everything in between. One note which was minor the second bedroom is a bit noisy in the morning and its not actually a king bed its two singles pushed together with no topper so you have that crease in the middle. Other than that it was great and we would stay there again!
Myself and my family, my husband and two daughters (11 & 7), stayed at the Royal Mauian over Christmas and New Year's 2011/2012. The condo is in a fantasic location, right between Kamaole Beach 1 & 2. The snorkelling out there was great! There are stores and restaurants right behind the complex. The condo had everything we needed. We made great use of the beach chairs and mats. The beds and pillows are super comfortable! The only complaint I have is it was a really busy time of year and it was a little loud. Not guests but traffic. The windows in the bedroom with the two single beds are not soundproof at all so you could clearly hear people walking by, the very loud birds, and the traffic. It didn't really bother my girls though. They ended up just sleeping through it. Overall we had a wonderful stay. If we ever travel to Kihei again we'll re-book at the Royal Mauian.
We absolutely loved the Royal Mauian for a number of reasons:
- close to amenities
- right next to the beach
- beautifully furnished condo
- amazing views
- great rooftop deck with Webber Bbq's
- quiet - we never heard our neighbors
We have stayed in Maui a number of times and this so far is our favorite - we will be back for sure!
We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Mauian. The condo provided everything that we needed. We loved the rooftop deck and saw beautiful sunsets.
The Second Great Stay at the Royal Mauian
This was the second year to stay at the Royal Mauian in October. Weather was perfect and the accommodations were great.
The staff at all'i played a large part in making this an enjoyable experience this year. From the first contact via the internet (thanks Carnie) to the meet and great (thanks Patti) to booking tours (thanks again Patti).
Unit 606 is very nice and very well furnished.
Traveled with two sister-in-laws who experienced there first trip to Maui. They obviously want to go back.
Thanks again to all!!
